I’m an artist who loves all things retro, particularly stuff from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. I was inspired by the R&W Berrie, C.M. Paula, and American Greetings figurines, so I made these statuettes–which take that idea further by adding color (most of the 70s figurines were monochromatic). The gag comes from an old joke about a guy who loosened a screw in his navel, and his butt fell off!
I made these for charity. Lovingly. Painstakingly. With no profit for myself (I contributed my own funds in order to create them, so I’m losing money). The statuettes are cast in Hydrocal and hand painted. Although they are not for sale, they are available as free gifts (while the fundraising campaign lasts) when you donate to the non-profit organization, Xerocraft.org:

Although I had some of each R&W Berrie, C.M. Paula, and American Greetings at the time I didn’t really appreciate Sillisculpts until their proliferation on eBay in the late 90s. Then I became obsessed, especially with the pink and baby blue ones.
You’ve done a really good job here. Great expression on his face. I’m not all offended that the color has been added and you’ve chosen excellent colors and sculpted really well. Kudos for doing this for charity. I hope you make a lot of money for your cause. Nothing half-assed about your efforts!! Would love to see more of your work. And welcome to AWMOK!
