INSANELY IN LOVE WITH THIS!!!! Oy!!!

The boat was customized, right? They just took another 59 Chevy and let ‘er rip? Or was this some special boat that was made back in 59?

I WANT THIS IN MY DRIVEWAY!!!

I am going to guess at this point that it was fabricated out of fiberglass to emulate the eyebrow ’59 look, and not actually taken from a chevy rear end. The taillights probably from a ’59 though.

I would be very happy to have a ’59 el Camino, not to mention a boat that looked like a ’59 eyebrow fin chevy to haul behind it!

I’ll find out more about this picture, I borrowed it from a car web site that I frequent, and once a good pic begins to circulate among car groups, the photo credits, setting, and explanation of the build and rig usually follow somewhere.

      Great. Keep us posted.

My next door neighbors when I first moved into Willis Wonderland were 70 year old female twins who had matching red and tourquoise ’59 Chevys. They were perfect in the drive next to my ’55 DeSoto and ’60 Studebaker Lark.

I had a ’59 in high school. It was my great-grandfather’s and when he went to the nursing home, he gave it to me.

It was turquoise. A four-door biscayne. Stripped down, no radio, just a metal plate where the radio should go. No a/c, a straight six with three on the tree. But I loved that car. Of course I also had a corvair and a souped up ’63 nova coupe at the time, so no big deal when I burned up the clutch on the ’59, my sister’s husband fixed it, and I gave it to my other sister. She drove it without an air filter for 3 years until it started burning oil so bad that there weren’t any mosquitos left in that county of Nebraska for some time.

It almost makes me a little queasy thinking about the twins and their ’59’s. Wish I could’ve seen that!

It gets even better. They were completely identical and very tiny. At one point one of them had to have a leg amputated. 6 months later, the other twin had the opposite leg amputated. So when they walked (they shared a walker) it was literally the thing with two heads. And the only place they walked to was those the Impalas in the drive.

It did get even better! Wow!

Do you think the twins would like the el Camino/ Boat combo?

Did you know them? Do you remember their names?

Were they gone before you discovered the Del Rubio’s ?

I’m so sorry about their legs though. On the bright side, less shaving.

Dorothy Kaufman and I can’t remember her sister’s name. They passed away about 15 years ago, but after I had found the Del Rubios. The house next door was new when they moved in in 1938. I rented their backyard for years to build my video sets in and store in their garage. I never took photos with them though. So dumb in retrospect.

Sorry where are my manners, you are AWESOME!

Thanks much for the C d’C! Gave me such a boost today.

On a side note, I was within an hour drive of CARHENGE last weekend, and because of family obligations, couldn’t get over there. I am going to revisit that place soon I hope. It’s for sale. They’re asking $300 thousand for it. I told my wife I want to add a drive-in theater and take old airstreams/vintage travel trailers and place them on the property permanently as motel rooms. She said no unless I got 9 other investors. It totally freaked me out that she didn’t say no. Who’s in?
