In the UK this week the weather has been unseasonably warm, this made me think of the onset of summer and my favourite pastime of eating Cream Teas . Ideally one should partake of them in a pleasing setting, extra points for nice china (no stainless steel drippy t pots, and quality jam .)
A cream tea (also known as a Devonshire tea, Devon cream tea or Cornish cream tea) is taken with a combination of scones, clotted cream, and jam.
The Devonshire (or Devon) method is to split the scone in two, cover each half with clotted cream, and then add strawberry jam on top.
This one is a very good example, huge scones, loads of cream and tasty jam….
Cream teas are offered for sale in tea rooms throughout the United Kingdom (especially South west England, (where I live ).
This is my friend Andy who shares my love of Cream Teas ,but manages to stay really slim , we go on jaunts to places that must include a cream tea.
Unlike Andy I just love to stuff my face (in the interest of research of course)

Devon cream is only my FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD!!
I had never even heard of it until I was in London at the tail end of 1984 writing What I Done to Deserve This with Pet Shop Boys. I think someone threw some in my coffee and I literally went insane with ecstasy. I got back home to California and mourned the loss of my Devon cream after I devoured the little I brought back with me. Lo and behold, as excited as Columbus spotting America for the 1st time, I was strolling down the aisle of my nearest grocery store and there it was!!! I had about 5 straight years of it and then decided I did not want to weigh 600 pounds before I was 40. So I quit the habit. But looking at your spread now makes me want to head to Gelson’s right now.
Complements for perfect dishes and serving implements. Also really like the fruit popping out of the butter and jam.
Excellent documentation as always. And love the last shot of you, of course!
I’m HUNGRY and want to come over to your place to eat.

They just taste divine, and usually if you are in Devon/Cornwall you can find little tea rooms and sit in the garden..very civilised. My friend Linda and I had a cream tea in the Jane Austen Tea Rooms in Bath, I was so overcome I dropped my camera down the loo by accident ,so no photos that day !

Thanks Allee, always free for a cream tea any time, I think my years of cream tea testing may be catching up with me, now I have turned 50 and I think they have settled on my stomach !!!!!!
