Open Reel Audio Tape

Though it’s somewhat of a novelty these days.  I still enjoy analogue recording.  I buy a lot of music both old and new.   The older recordings (pre-CD) just sound somehow, less compressed and fuller bodied.  Maybe I’m wrong.  It could be my imagination or just a preference for the ritual of cueing up a record or a tape.   And siting back into a comfy chair and actively listening to music.

I love you listen to music like this. Not even vinyl quarter track tape.

Many extra points for having Carol King Fantasy among the ones you’ve chosen to spotlight.

I still have my Revox A-77 quarter track reel to reel that I bought in 1972 to record my very first songs on.

Do you any other tape machines?

I’ve had two of this model. Easily found on eBay usually needing only a belt. I bought it to play a “mystery tape” found at my grandparents. It turned out to be grandma playing guitar and singing with grandpa when they were newlyweds.

I wanna hear your grandparents singing!

I’ve never had the opportunity to listen to music this way.
