What a time that must have been. New architecture, new approach to construction, home furnishings…”old was out”.

By the mid-1960’s this furniture was moved to the lower level rec rooms…and not so comfortable either.    I recall going to Saturday night parties…as Johnny Mathis played softly…ahhhh…who cared about the furniture.

    I’m happy to say that I always cared about furniture. I didn’t even realize that what I loved in 1955 was referred to as modern but I would walk into a room like any of the above and swoon, even as a 5-year-old.

    I have a bunch of vintage Better Homes & Gardens magazines. I never get tired of looking through them.

    I love that round table/footstool in the 3rd photo.

    I also have a ton of old Better Homes & Gardens and love looking at ’em – sometimes I wish I was snowbound in my house for days – with food but without the internets, so I could do nothing but pore over them!

    My collection spans the 50s to the early 70s and I definitely realized the other night when I was organizing them chronologically (yes, I do know how to spend a fun Saturday night!) that the “sweet spot” for me is always the 50s-early 60’s. As soon as things got all “Colonial” I just go Meh.
