Here’s a clip is from a Carpenters holiday special from 1977 and features not only Richard and Karen and their band, but guests Kristy McNichol, Harvey Korman and Kukla & Ollie (sorry, no Fran). It was a simpler time then, when a joke about Farrah Fawcett’s hair was considered cutting edge comedy.

The Carpenters are like Gods. I can’t say this is their best performance but who cares? I’m happy every time I see them. Love the clothes, the hair, the guests and all that’s 1977. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you, Doug, and to all aKitschionados!! Wish Karen were here to celebrate with us.
