I couldn’t resist these cute kimono-clad drummer girls, with their “spaghetti” and “popcorn” decoration. They don’t have any marks, so I don’t know much about them… but they’re awfully cute! I seem to have collected a lot of this vaguely Asian-themed stuff. I also really like the pastel colors.
The textural detail on the kimono is kind of nifty.
Their hands and facial expressions are kind of weird but it ads to the charm.

These fall under the more classic definition of “kitsch” with all the flourishy touches and shining white porcelain. I do love that they’re so laden with popcorn and spaghetti technique. They are, indeed, Asian themed but also look very Keane-ish American.
What’s the one on the left holding? A compact? A mirror? A hubcap? As for the one on the left, her drum has quite a cinched waist.
It’s always an excellent sign of Kitsch when the head is oversized for the body.

Ha! The left-one is also holding a drum. It’s also got an hourglass-shape so it’s hiding behind her head. I like the idea that she’s pounding on a hubcap better, though.
