Dallas, Texas souvenir

This is a ceramic cowboy hat “catch all”. I’m assuming the way it’s made that it would be used for change or something like that or maybe mens rings…..

   I have always loved little cowboy hat ashtrays. I have a wonderful 1950’s tin one. I don’t think it’s a “catch all” though. The cigarette or whatever you’re smoking rests in the crease in the top and the ash fall into the brim.

   What are the two claw like things sticking out on the Texas side of the ashtray? I suppose they’re the ends of the hat band but it looks like a chicken is being strangled.

   Duh, I can’t believe I did not notice it was really an ashtray.

   I think I nabbed this from the dump in Brewster MA.

   I can’t believe the quality of the stuff you get from the dump. Sometimes even better than what your average person finds at a thrift shop or flea market.

   I know Doug, but the dump runs can spoil a guy! I can’t wait for the winter season to be over. They close the dump stores for a few months when the weather is ugly and cold.
