I almost fell over when I spotted this. Would this be displayed for humans ( a reminder to booze it up) or would hummingbirds really know the difference between a typical feeder or a margarita glass? This piece of kitsch makes no sense to me.
Lime please.

This is the newer kind of kitsch that I’m not so crazy about but there’s no denying how cute a hummingbird would look sipping out of this thing. The thing about hummingbirds, of course, is that you’ve got to keep the feeders ultra clean or you kill off the birds. This thing doesn’t look quite sturdy enough to withstand many cleanings but I’d still probably give it a whirl in my yard just to see the little birdies getting drunk.

Dude this thing lights it up! Holy crap I want one on the deck. One of our Hummingbirds, Raoul, would love it. Sadly we are about to lose them this season to the south as they leave us for warmer climes, and I would like nothing better than to toast them these last few days of their stay while they are enjoying the same shaped glass! Yay!

I hope you take photos of the hummingbird festivitys and post them here!

It is just an awful thing.

I LOVE THAT YOU MADE THIS FOR US!! Please give Raol a kiss on behalf of AWMOK!

Wow Mark! Let me clarify, we have a hummingbird feeder but just not one that resembles a margarita! I have always loved hummingbirds and I cannot believe how close your video is. Did you zoom in? I can even see Raols eyes. This is incredible video footage! He’s beautiful.
denny
Mark, I’ll go get it for you. Actually I can send Ernie over. It’s not far from our house. less than 5 minutes!

Thanks Denny but I just saw them on Amazon for $10, and they also have martini hummingbird feeders.
You know I’m serious that it’s almost time for them to leave, and now that I think about it a little, maybe I shouldn’t disturb their pattern right here at the end of the season. They might be gone any day now anyway!

Just having a lot of fun with my new digital camera this past couple weeks! I was set to buy an elph, but when I got to Costco, they had this panasonic Lumix so cheap I bought it instead.
I tried to change the video title, but am not proficient enough at uploading the tubes yet-this is not Raoul, we think he’s already headed south-the males head to the mating grounds first. This is-well let’s just start calling her Rita, because I can’t remember what we named her last year. It’s believed that they follow the same migration route every year, and we think this was the second year at least for this couple.
They quarrel over the feeder, and buzz us as they chase each other around our deck in the summer.
Some of them actually fly over the gulf of Mexico during their migration, maybe 20 feet off the water, for hundreds of miles to get to Central America to their mating grounds. That’s horny.
Safe travels kids!

Love hearing about hummingbirds. I like to pretend that the squirrels who make it into my yard to frolic are the same ones every year, those smart enough to know that all yards aren’t equal and choose the hippest ones to return to. But in my case I think that’s an illusion. In your case, it sounds true and wonderful.

Thanks Allee, and thanks really to Denny, none of us really know what we’re posting is going to bring back memories or strike a chord with someone else. So you’re good to put up with my shenanigans on your post. Stay tuned, we’ll loop back come spring when I hope those two (or a reasonable facsimile of them) return!

I have my margarita hummingbird feeder enroute, can’t wait until I can put it out in a month or so!
