Beautiful Stained Glass Window, a husband’s tribute.

Submitted by Markydoodle October 26th, 2010

I’d be the first to admit that I am crazy about stained glass. The older ones like this are rich in history. Here you can see one that apparently was dedicated to the wife and elevated thoughts of a certain Mr. Sutton.

Beautiful window. Magnified and pointed out by the red arrow, you can see the true beauty of this one.

In case it’s still too small a font for you, this one says

“In memory of my beloved wife. 1834-1888. Her bible beneath the cornerstone of the building is the underlying cause of the erection.”

I wonder if he ever shared those sentiments with her while she was alive.

I was never big on stained-glass windows. Intellectually I understand that much of it is beautiful but, regardless of subject, it all looks so old and religiousy to me so I’ve never really appreciated it. I do like the dedication of a husband to his wife though. ( Though if I were her I wish he would have gotten me a new car or or horse or whatever mode of transportation was around in those days.)

Okay not me either really, I just thought it was romantic that even just the thought of her bible gave him an erection.

I didn’t even catch that! Kitsch worthy it’s true! But how kinky was this guy that all he needed to think about was her Bible?!
