These are from my collection of over 100 “Mainzer” or “Humorous Dressed Cats” postcards originally published from the 1940’s thru the 1960’s by Alfred Mainzer Inc. in New York. There are about 248 postcards to be collected in all. These postcards feature cats dressed up like people in everyday situations and are known for their rough texture, bright colors, amazing detail and scalloped edges. The artist was a European graphic artist by the name of Eugen Hartung (1897 – 1973).
I love these cards. They are guaranteed to put a smile on your face. I especially love how the female cats are sometimes pictured walking pet poodles!

Although the drawing style was always too good for me on these postcards I can always appreciate an animal in nice clothes. I also always liked these kinds of drawings of cats better than the dogs as they seem to be less common.
My favorite is the one on the top right of the bottom photo of the cats boarding the plane. I absolutely love the two felines with happy tails poking through their trench coats waving the passengers off.
