What do you do with a stale bagel? Make a refrigerator magnet! These homemade little darlings were an instant hit. I needed an idea for Mother’s Day presents that children could easily make. Gluing eyes, fake hair, a few decorations and a magnet on a shellacked bagel was the answer. I still have parents tell me that The Bagel Family continues to adorn their refrigerators after fifteen years.

    I LOVE THESE! Excellence in the field of Kitsch craft fabrication! Without question I would put The Bagel family on my frig. I especially love the one with the extra glob of blond hair on one side as that’s what I look like when I look in the mirror.

    I loved the use made of the bagel hole. I would buy these for sure. You should start to sell them.

    These are so stunning on every level. The baby pacifier is genius. I love the texture of the skin the little bagel bestows on everyone. Mom looks like she is a 54 year old mom. They must have married late in life.

    These are wonderful. Can I purchase them somewhere?

    I meant to ask if you had originally put a mouth on the one with the button nose and lace cap or whether that little patch of darker brown that could pass for a mouth was on the bagel, maybe from a piece of onion that fell off?

    These are killing me! I have long had a lover affair with bagels and can never get enough of them. I just wish I was as crafty as you are here with regards to recycling this food group. Have you ever done the magnets with big bagels? The one with brown, curly hair and pink ribbon……my favorite! The mouth on that one is hysterical! The first one (with white hair) looks as if she is singing opera.

    But what kind of countertop/table are they sitting on? That looks like a pattern from a 50’s chrome dinette set we used to have.

      Original 1950s Formica boomerang pattern. It came in all different color combos but the salmon is definitely my favorite. And it shows off the bagels so well.
