In honor of Marilyn Monroe’s (would be) 84th birthday, I must submit this amazing piece. I have had it for about 10 years, and it is still in mint condition. Its date of origin is 1956 – On of the few Marilyn artifacts that exist as memorabilia that were made while she was still alive.

Or the slope is so great
That you need a directional change

As I look at this I remember that I have one of these too. It was one of the very first things I found when I started thrift shopping. I have absolutely no idea where it is so it does my heart good to look at this now. It was actually a brilliant combination of product and celebrity, especially because they could give the product a new spin and it fit the celebrity so organically.
I’m just posted photos on Facebook of me, cm squared and a bunch of our friends going to a Marilyn Monroe retrospective last night at the Hollywood Museum. This protractor is an excellent punctuation point to end our evening! For anyone on Facebook, check it out at http://www.facebook.com/alleewillis#!/photo.php?pid=4152257&id=561320908
