I was never into horror films so I never collected any of that kind of memorabilia. But this set appeals to me because they hopped on the immensely popular ’70’s craze of sculpting heads out of apples and watching them shrivel until they turn into ugly cauliflower headed people. With that organic connection to crazy scientists I’m in favor of these two genres of pop culture combining for this kit

I’m especially intrigued by the writing in the bottom left corner. So is the deal that you stick the apple inside that thing that looks like an inverted pint of ice cream, attach it to a table light (how exactly is that done?) and then the apple stays in there frying in the heat until your house smells so bad you throw the whole thing out? HAve you ever used this?

Sadly no. I made these in my youth, but never the Vincent Price way. I doubt my fluorescent bulbs would do the job though. The box is still sealed, so I am reluctant to break it now. I have always been tempted to try it.

nice! i drew cartoons for the yale daily news in college and during that period i found out that vincent price had attended yale as well. for reasons i cannot quite fathom now (since he had graduated well over 50 years before i was there) i randomly sent vincent price a little booklet of my cartoons. i was thrilled when i received a return letter in which mr. price praised my work as “…fresh, funny, and decidedly different…” i should actually post that on here…hmmm, i need to find it…

I love odd products endorsed by celebrities (Eva Gabor wigs, Jeff Foxworthy beef jerky, etc.) and this is one of the best!

I remember seeing this on TV when I was a kid.

    Still sealed?? Lucky!!

yes i LOVE this! I too especially love all the celebrity endorsed kitsch. i had several shrunken apple head doll carving parties, but we just left them out to dry for 6 months or so and then had a follow-up decorating party. i made a few Santa and Mrs Claus xmas ornaments. i also have a “cowboy” fridge magnet.
