    I don’t know “The Archers”. Was this an English radio program? What years did it run? And how large is the plate? Whatever the answers this is a great looking plate. Wouldn’t mind a whole set of these.

    The Archers is a British soap opera broadcast on the BBC’s main spoken-word channel, Radio 4. It was originally billed as “an everyday story of country folk”, a familiar phrase now “dumbed up” on its R4 page as “contemporary drama in a rural setting”.[2] With more than 16,000 episodes, it is both the world’s longest running radio soap and, since the axing of the American soap opera Guiding Light in September 2009, the world’s longest running soap opera in any format.[3]

    The Archers is the most listened to Radio 4 non-news programme,[4] and holds the BBC Radio programme record for the number of times listened to over the internet, with over one million listeners.

    Some info above on the Archers Radio Show, I believe it started the 1st Jan 1951 and each episode is I believe 12 minutes. Ive not heard of Guiding Light are you familiar with this show. I must try and find the theme tune to the Archers its very jolly .

      I was never a soap opera gal but yes, The Guiding Light, was a pillar of American soap operadom. Now that I’ve read about The Archers here I realize I remember it popping up on TV the two trips I made to London in the 80’s to write.
