Who doesn’t remember Lassie, little Timmy and his family on the farm? How did Lassie always “save the day” in just a half hour, week after week? Oh yes, Campbell’s Soups were “M’m M’m! Good”. Now we read the label to check out the contents, and maybe not always so “M’m M’m! Good”.
This photo was a page insert in book on the career of “Lassie”. Quite possibly Campbell’s Soup was the show sponsor and this originally was an ad. I’m thinking this is mid 1950’s.

I watched “Lassie” religiously as a kid. I also ate a lot of Campbell’s products, not pork ‘n beans as featured here but more cream of mushroom and tomato soup. I thought it was mmm mmm good then and still do now, which probably accounts for my love of all things Kitsch as the food I grew up on (and still love) certainly fell into that category.
I can’t tell from the photo if this is the original Timmy, Tommy Reddig, who played him from 1954 to ’58. His signature bowl haircut is swept to the side here. I suspect this is a stand-in but Lassie is looking sharp as always.
