I always wanted one of these as a kid but my parents thought I was too dangerous on wheels and insisted I had something with sides on it. I had a Buick sedan which was beautiful and took up half of my childhood as I constantly polished it but I always loved the stripped down beauty of the Tot Rod.

Do you by any chance have a full length shot of this? If so, email it to me at [email protected]. And who’s the handsome driver?

My son Mason, he couldn’t take his hands off it all day, just like his mom and aunt and uncle couldn’t in the 60s!

I got one for Christmas when I was old enough to peddle it like a banshee around a track created by sidewalks in our front and side yards. I mean I was speed racer 4 seasons of the year. Ultimately I went around my track so much that the front wheels began to bow in. Then when I abused it to the point of junking it, my grandfather used the front steering mechanism to help me build my first soap box racer (where and when I grew up it was pretty much open class with the exception that no one could motorize their derby entry.) This is something I’d forgotten about. Thank you for bringing back wonderful childhood memories for me. Mine was exactly like this one! Does anyone know where one could be purchased?

Mark – great story – we used to race them around our grandparent’s house as they had a nice paved “track” for us to go around and around for hours…good times.
