R.I.P. aKitschionado MAGGIE LEWIS a.k.a. Windupkitty

I’m absolutely heartbroken to deliver the news to all aKitschionados that our beloved Windupkitty has departed the mortal plane for more peaceful horizons. Besides posting some of the most brilliant kitsch on this site as well as the staggeringly brilliant commentary that always accompanied her entries, Windup was one of the kindest, most generous, hysterical, and talented people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I can’t even tell you how much we will all miss you, Maggie. R.I.P.

I don’t want to let her go of course. Not today. Not yet. This one gave all us all gifts. Sometimes we thought we were just special, and then later it dawned on us that she had given us this wonderful gift of a nice day. And we hoped that somehow we had given her one.

Maggie you gave us more than a nice day. You gave us a standard.

Live like you’re dying, cause baby we all are, just all of us at a different pace.

    Random acts of kindness embodied.

That is beautiful Mark….I lit a candle for her in Cathedral for her last Friday and sent her love..

Though I only knew her as a fellow Akitschionado and from Facebook I feel like I lost a friend.
Her posts always radiated such a great sense of humor and such wonderful positive attitude for life.

Like Shirlie, I always wished one day we would meet in person.

Also, I will always remember her beautifully perfectly braided hair.

Very sorry for your loss, Allee. x

I LOVE the little worldwide family AWMOK has brought together, which always gives me the impetus to keep it going. I “met” Maggie when she sent me a fan letter. Then when she started contributing to AWMOK and I finally met her in person – at an aKitachionado party at Rusty’s house the weekend Mel and Jessica filmed their Clean House episode – I knew I had meet someone who would be in my life forever. Unfortunately that forever was FAR too short. But I know Maggie loved her AWMOK family and you all should know how much you meant to her. Hope to meet you in the real sense one day, BeeJay.

I truly hope so, too, Allee!

I love the story how you got to know Maggie.
She will always be part of the AWMOK family.

I’m so sorry to hear this sad, sad news. I initially knew Maggie only as a fellow akitschionado but was fortunate enough, Allee, to meet her at your house when you and Susan Olsen had a marshmallow
fluff party. I immediately liked her– so genuine and down-to-earth. She will be missed. And to Allee and my fellow akitschionados I send my deepest condolences. Nice that she got one last Classique d Camembert. I’m sure she’s up there appreciating how kitschy heaven is, because we all know it probably looks like the Madonna Inn, right?
