Remember the Bali Motel??.. It’s on E. 8 Mile, between I-75 and Dequindre, maybe further east side than you hung out? SO COOL…period perfect, built in 1958. It’s still there, would be a wonderful restoration, if only.. :)

OMG! I actually DON’T remember this place because if I did it would be permanently boiled into my brain!! I lived right on 7 Mile and was always on 8 Mile but we never drove that far east. I actually to this day don’t know East from West or North from South so I’m not sure if it was that we didn’t drive that far east or that far west. We were near Outer Drive, Meyers, Wyoming and Livernois. But I would’ve been cruising past this puppy all the time if I knew it was there.
I’m actually coming to Detroit for a week on April 26 to do more groundwork for The D (https://www.alleewillis.com/WeSingTheD/). If I have any time at all I may try and take a cruise past. If you happen to drive past let me know as well.
Is it still in use or completely abandoned?
Those dog bone windows and the way they’re lit are completely destroying me. The color scheme is brilliant. The lighting in front is brilliant. I love what’s happening at the top of the stairs. Really sensational.
