I haven’t cleaned it up yet, but this recent super-cheap yard sale find is a Bert & Ernie transistor radio.  It still works!  I probably won’t hold onto it  but I thought I would share, as it is really cute.

Here is the back and you can see the controls.  The batteries go in the bottom.

I missed the whole Bert & Ernie thing. Too old. But I know that any kid would’ve gone insane over this radio.

What year do you think this is from?

Adorable. I was a fan of Bert and Ernie for sure, in fact just today I found a photo of myself as a little kid sitting on the toilet with bert and ernie dolls…I loved the rubber ducky song too…I think it got airplay!?!?!?!?! Pretty cool that it still works…funny how that is…stuff was made to last, not require silly upgrades….

Yeah, it doesn’t work particularly WELL, but it does still work. 5 channels on AM radio, two of which are angry guys rambling into microphones seems pretty quaint when I can have 50 hours of music in my pocket on an MP3 player.

I know what you mean, I LOVE listening to records but when a friend of mine got me an ipod while I was in the hospital it totally changed my life..I”m kinda loving the digital thing too, though I hate to admit it…

I’m still trying to figure out how to clean it without ruining it with water. Probably a soapy toothbrush a little bit at a time I guess.
