    What happens when you push that little plunger on the back of the box? Does it thrust the bird forward and so the head dips down into the box snagging a cig?

    I used to have a metal cigarette box that had a bird on it that worked like this.

    Reminds me of the toothpick woodpeckers that were so ubiquitous in the 50’s and 60’s. Red and white plastic and there was just a teeny bit of space between the upper and lower beak.     You push that plunger thing in and the bird bends down to snatch a cigarette. This was re-dumped or may have ended up out at Willis Wonderland…..
