Plastic Sculpture (I have no idea what this is…)

I have no idea what this is. It’s plastic and has no identifying marks on it. I found it at the dump.

   It looks like a late 60’s mushroom lamp but that double configuration and the fact that it doesn’t stand up makes no sense. How big is it? Looks like the stuff coming out of Italy at that time. Maybe it was an adult desk toy, as kinestic desk sculptures were so popular then.
