I have a little soft spot for porcellaine eggs. This one I once found at a fleamarket is one of my faves. It was a bit rusty, but after cleaning it with a toothbrush it looked like new.

I never really got into these eggs as they were so delicate looking. But this one is gorgeous. I also never realized they opened. Do most of them do that? And that little bottle and its stand inside are fabulous. I might start liking eggs.

I have a couple of those eggs, but usually you open them horizontal, this one is an exception. Most porcellaine are almost a bit TOO corny designed for my taste, I like the ones which come in really poppy colors or with bizarre motives. I once spotted one with the Pope on it and the Pope was so tacky done it was hilarious. Today I regret I didn´t buy it.

I’ve always wondered what would be inside these. My grandmother has a few that she keeps in the bedrooms at their house; they were her mother’s eggs!
I love the contrast against the deep red background.
