Owl Clock

Here’s an owl clock I promised to post like a million years ago and never did post… but I am finally posting it!  Got this thing for a few dollars at an antique shop.  It is HEAVY.  When I hung it up, I thought “good thing we don’t have earthquakes, this thing could kill somebody!”

Well, we had our first earthquake here (at least the first in many years) on August 23!  I had never felt one before and at first I didn’t know what was going on.  It lasted for about 45 seconds and when the shaking stopped, I went outside.  A bunch of my neighbors were outside too, looking bewildered.  I’m glad to say that Mr. Owl clock stayed on the wall.  In fact, no kitsch was damaged during the quake. Phew!

Well, it was well worth the wait. Or should I say weight? Especially now that an earthquake has rattled the branches of the east coast. I, of course, know all about that stuff and have thanked my lucky metal stars that some of my stuff was made out of this cast iron and didn’t fall off the walls during our west coast shakers.

    Does the clock still work?

Glad you didn’t lose anything, especially kitsch, in the quake.

The clock works fine, but the battery must be dead, because it surely wasn’t 9:15 when I took this picture.
