Japanese Tourist Tchotchke of Miracle Quality

Seen at a rummage sale… “National Excellent Prize of Tourist Product….” what could be inside, you ask?

A really lovely bird paperweight thing with a spinny disk inside.  I think this was delicate embroidery on a very thin fabric with a VERY thin needle.   I was going to buy this at a rummage sale I worked but decided against it.  When I saw a guy buying it, I told him that I liked the amusing label on the box, he just looked at me blankly.  Some people have no sense of humor.

As most of you know, this falls into one of my favorite genres of kitsch, the poorly translated. Such a tacky little mirror – made of plastic I’m hoping – for such an important title, “National Excellent Prize of Tourist Product….” PERFECT.

Terrible when you get that vibe from people Nessa. It’s creppy and sad.

As for this box, it’s pretty amazing and the product is of very high cheese quality.

The label on the box is far more valuable than the crap inside it and anyone who doesn’t appreciate that fact should be shunned and castigated.
