vintage munsingwear gift box

I know nothing about this item save for the fact that I found it while trolling through the basement of my boyfriend’s childhood home (now our home). His grandmother had used it to store old newspaper clippings.  (mostly text)  Anyone care to hazard a guess?

    I would guess maybe it was a box for hosiery, judging from “Smoketone”, the box lid photo and the thinness of the box. What are the dimensions? Whatever it held it’s a beautiful box and they don’t make them like they used to.

    Thanks, it’s about 12″ x6″ I kinda figured hose, even today they primarily do undies. :o)
