This statuette is 13″ tall and weighs 1.5 pounds. It was carved from a dark ebony teak type of wood. There are no indications on the base on where it came from. I use it in my home office as a support for my banjo thermometer recently submitted to the museum.

Well, What banjo or thermometer wouldn’t be thrilled to be supported by this honey?! https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2011/06/25/banjo-thermometer/
I have quite a few statues carved from this type of wood, but mostly African women dancing or carrying jugs.
Do you have any idea what year it was carved?
Good job on the lighting!

I checked this figurine all over for any marks that showed where it came from or when it was made. The wood appears very dense. Upon closer examination, I noticed she is carrying what looks like a large pineapple on her left shoulder. When I first got it, I thought she had a large flower in her hair over her ear.

I love that a whole shoulder is needed to carry a pineapple.
