With the recent discussion of the Wigwam motels I thought I’d like to share a few images from our recent Route 66 trip.
A sign near the highway for the Meteor City gift shop near Meteor Crater:
Western Hills Motel in Flagstaff, AZ:
A shack in the desert at Two Guns, AZ:
Joe & Aggie’s Cafe in Holbrook, AZ:

Tanks for posting these. Looks like Arizona Route 66 is WAYYYYY more happening that the little that’s left of it in CA.
Are the dinosaurs for sale at the Rock Shop? Wouldn’t mind of those on my front lawn!
How long ago did you take this trip?
Love that Western Hills serves Vietnamese food with a Europen hostess. That may be one of my most favorite signs ever!
Is Joe & Aggies diner food?

We took this trip in early April of 2010.
There are still a lot of Route 66 sites to be seen in Arizona especially in the Flagstaff area. One can really see the faded glory of 66 in Holbrook. It would have been something to see in it’s heyday.
I don’t think the dinosaurs were for sale but I’m sure anything is negotiable.
Joe & Aggie’s is diner food with a Mexican edge. Akitschionado Rusty has some great picture she took inside that maybe she can share at some point.
The Western Hills sign was awesome. Too bad I couldn’t get a picture of it at night!
