How many total rocks are painted at this place? And are these actually stepping stones? Can anyone just sit there and paint anything or were these commissioned?
I only saw three painted stones, placed just off the trail, not stepping stones for sure. Only the coyote didn’t get his photo taken. They are on flagstone, about 1″ thick, so may have been painted elsewhere and brought to the site.
There are initials visible on this one, but whose they are i don’t know.
The rest of the story might be had from one of the park rangers, or from the small gift shop there.
