Here in Alameda, California, we have a small market at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Grand Avenue that left up the old pharmacy image for Ex-Lax.

First of all, kudos to the new establishment for leaving up the old mural. Second, if the best thing the old drugstore had to advertise was Ex-Lax, I’m not surprised they went out of business. Giving over 18 windows to the laxative seems a bit excessive, but then anyone who is in dire need of Ex-Lax isn’t seeing much sunshine that day anyway.

Around the corner, they use another 18 windows to advertise Ex-Lax. Perhaps the use of laxatives was more prevalent in Alameda during the time this was put up? Next time I go over, I’ll check to see if they actually sell Ex-Lax at this store anymore. :)

This is pretty fantastic and love when old signs are left intact. Super yay for this post!
Thanks for remembering to post this!
What a crew here!
