He was doing more than fighting outlaws, Hopalong was busy promoting his ice cream line too! Allee, did you consume this ice cream or was this a kitsch purchase?
What flavor was this ice cream?
Love this tin of Hopalong’s “hybrid yellow” popcorn.

I was not the eater of the ice cream. I found the carton for 25¢ in a thrift shop on Santa Monica Blvd. right after I moved to LA in 1976. I also found a couple Hopalong Cassidy paper plates with little red plastic forks along with it.
I love the Hopalong Cassidy popcorn can. The colors are really bright. I featured it in my Kitsch O’ The Day blog last year. https://www.alleewillis.com/awmok/kitschenette/2010/05/11/hopalong-cassidys-favorite-popcorn/
William Boyd, who was Hopalong Cassidy, was one of the first stars ever to own his own merchandising rights as well as the rights to the character, which was exceptionally rare back in the 50’s. Go Hoppy!

I love this! There is something about vintage food containers that seriously puts a smile on my face. I see the graphics and wonder what the commercials wouldhave been like.
Seriously jealous on this one!

I love that you’re using the jealous button!
Karen
And I love that you created it! It is fun to use especially when you are so flabbergasted over a kitsch post that you just can’t find the words, you hit the button!
Allee Willis
Hitting the button is becoming a regular theme in my work. One of the big songs from The Color Purple is “Push Da Button”.

Denny great post…
Allee, I have always loved Hoppy, never see the food containers, wondering if many got tossed?

This was another fun day at “Willis Wonderland”. I swear, next time I am sleeping in the book shed!
