And That’s the Truth!

I’ve driven past this a million times and every time it makes me smile because I think of the magnificent Lily Tomlin and her character Edith Ann. Today I finally left the house armed with my camera and the sole intent to capture this lovely rocking chair for the AWMOK. It was a good day to do so as there was a pretty nice old Ford parked next to it :) I only took one pic as the parking lot was busy and a few people seemed to relish the idea of mowing me down…

Totally perfect! Chair, HOOT Judkins and that fabulous Ford!! You know that Lily’s one of my best friends so I will certainly make sure she sees the Hoot chair!

Ha! I bought my daughter a captain’s bed at “Hoot” Judkins. Besides the great chair, I love the fact that Hoot is in quotes. In case you thought Hoot was Mr. Judkins given name.

hahahahah…you’re so right! Ya get the occasional well placed apostrophe in some excellent names, but it’s hard to work in the quotes without changing the meaning!

I am also a big Lily Tomlin fan. This and the “one ringy dingy” skit are classic!

Great picture! I would love to have sat in it!

This is really funny. I’d like to put that chair in my living room as our ceilings here are like the bottom of a ship so it would fit!

Love it. I still have the “And that’s the Truth!” LP from new. I fell in love with Edith Ann early on, and the fact that Allee is good friends with Lily Tomlin is the coolest thing ever.

I knew somebody with the nickname “Hoot” when I was growing up. Too funny!

Having lunch with Lily the week after next, when I shall be hobbling around crutch free, so will take lots of photos. We’re planning on doing something in Detroit together, don’t know what yet, but that’s part of my mission when I go there in early April to conduct my high school marching band. I’m also the closing keynote speaker at the Rust Belt To Art Belt three day conference about the rejuvenation of Detroit, so will be talking to a lot of people about possibilities. Here’s a great article from the LA Times a couple weeks ago explaining Rust Belt cities and their goals: http://articles.latimes.com/2011/jan/03/business/la-fi-europe-rebuild-20110103

wow…Detroit needs you guys…so many beautiful buildings and so much history being lost to lack of funds…breaks my heart…I remember reading what you wrote for Time Magazine…..

What a lovely thing to have Lily Tomlin as a friend!!!!!!!! She’s been a favorite of mine since childhood…Actually, she was very much adored and celebrated by our whole household…still have my records, of course!
