Gorgeous dinner plate done by “Bubbles the Artist” of the man, Mr. Issac Hayes. I love this and his stubble and blue jacket are just killing me.
This hangs next to the dinner plate.

Allee Willis
For any of you who don’t know, Bubbles the artist was my alter ego. She was very active from 1999 to 2004, and sold hundreds of paintings and ceramics and earned a living for me while I was writing The Color Purple musical. You don’t get paid to write musicals so it was five salary-less years. So thank you, Bubbles! (To see Bubbles’ complete catalog go here: http://www.bubblestheartist.com/)
Bubbles made 12 “Mr. Issac Hayes” plates. As you can see from Denny’s second photo, Isaac Hayes himself bought number 7. I love the autograph with my name in quotes as if Bubbles was the real person and “Allee” was the made up one.
Both of these hang over my stove in the kitchen. I have to wipe the grease off of them every now and then, which seems conceptually perfect for this plate as Shaft was also Chef on South Park.
