This is a ceramic spoon rest fashioned to look like a prickly pear cactus pad. It is hand-painted and signed by the artist on back. btw, if the red spoon looks like the famous Betty Crocker logo spoon, it is. I got it years ago as a premium giveaway by sending in Bisquick box tops.

I love spoon rests in general but I really love this little cactus pad because it’s not mutating the shape of the pad at all to serve its function.
I have a lot of these types of cactuses around my house. This makes me want to go make a mold of one of the pads right now and turn it into a trivet!
That Betty Crocker spoon needs its own separate submission please.

What a creative spoon rest. Is that a Dansk enamel pot on the stove, sitting right of the spoon rest???
Michael Ely
Good guess. It is Le Creuset.

I have tons of those prickly pear cactuses around my house too. Would love to get a spoon rest like yours. Can you read the artist’s name? Maybe he/she has a website?

Hey Doug. It came from this pottery shop and they have more. Try phoning them to see if you can order one. If not, I will be more than happy to pick one up for you. I think they sell for about $10 or less.
