Created in California, perhaps the early 50’s, this hand painted plate is just as timely today. I love the eyes on the windows, but wish they were looking toward the gate. It measures 6 inches across with authentic surface crazing.

That plate is fantastic! I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. Is it dinner plate size or smaller?
I agree, it would have been better art directed if the eyes were looking toward the gate as everything would be focused in the center of the plate. But I’m not complaining because the plate is so gorgeous! I also love how the bush on the left looks like it’s erupting.
