Boudoir Barometer, circa 1968

On the back of this beautiful wall decor it says “Copyright 1968, Lester Game, Inc., Toledo, Ohio.” Even though it was one year after the Summer of Love, the “risque” humor here is quite pre-sexual revolution banter…but fun nonetheless, and always good for a chuckle when settling down in the boudoir (though hopefully not in the Rob and Laura Petrie style separate beds!). Ooh la la!

I have a bunch of these but none of them have the faces, which definitely ups the ante. The women seem so much better drawn than the men, who remain more cartoonish.

My favorite is “For a mink I might”.

I have always been partial to the “For a mink I might” quip as well, though “Well if it’s your birthday, OK,” is a good one too.
