Gallo Salame advertising character

This is one of the first mail-away promotional items I sent in for. This is a Gallo dry salami (salame?) doll. You will notice that the top of his head resembles the package opening. Something disturbs yet intrigues me about characters that are promotional items for meat products – perhaps it’s that vegetarian sensibility in me – who knows?

    I find it amazing that it’s a salami yet his whole body isn’t red. This looks like Christmas Gallo Salami. In general though, I love that there would be a salami plush toy and that it’s something you could mail away for. Did you get a little coupon when you bought the salami?

    He was advertised in the Sunday paper coupon section – I remember because at that point I had already renounced meat, bought 2 salamis and invited people over to eat it. I just hate wasting food.
