This is a vintage (1950’s) tin for Brinta, a cereal from Holland. I love the period tin litho graphics, but even better is the concept that this Dutch family is having a picnic in which Brinta cereal seems to be the only thing on the menu. The blanket’s on the ground, mom’s got a parasol to keep out the sun, the boy is eagerly holding up his spoon, his sister has brought the milk, dad’s brought his camera (or is it a European man purse?), and even Fido can’t wait to dig into the cereal, which apparently is eaten off a plate instead of a bowl.

I’d smack someone if they brought me all the way to a picnic and then only served me cereal! I can, however, relate to the dog eating off the plate rather than out of the bowl. You know how much we love our animals. We think the germs don’t exist in them because they’re ours. I never served one of mine Brinta but I did have a dog who was hooked on oatmeal once.
Gorgeous graphics.
