I love the clash of cultures in this vintage Israeli advertising poster for Shavit Coffee that I found at a flea market in Tel Aviv. The little anthropomorphized coffee bean guy clearly is costumed as an Hispanic but to my eye, he sure looks like he’s dancing the hora.

For a while I was going strong on a Jewish kitsch collection and this would have fit right in. The clash of cultures, as you say, is fantastic. The Jewish soulful coffee bean dressed in a barbershop quartet outfit or something worn by a waiter in the kind of Italian restaurant where the servers sing is a perfect mismatch.
I love the line, ‚Äúor cold as the Pole” as if the writer was so familiar with the North Pole they could call it by one name.
How large is the poster?
