Ideal for a cozy “Weekend in New England,” this is a Barry Manilow pillow being sold on Etsy. If you’re not quite “Ready to Take a Chance Again” with a real man, the Barry Manilow pillow (which “Looks Like He Made It”) is your best bet. The item description is simply, “Made of soft cotton jersey, screen printed face, polyester stuffing and love.”

So fantastic I can’t even breathe…!! If I had 1 inch of room in my house at all for another pillow I would buy this.

Barry manilow was one of my first show business friends. Our first (and my only) LPs came out the same week in 1974 and the very first night I ever went on stage Barry was performing at another club in the same city, Philadelphia. We met up at a bar after and lamented our opening act status until the wee hours of the morning. He exploded soon after that with “Mandy” and I decided to concentrate more on songwriting than performing. He’s a really great guy and very deserving of this (insane) pillow.

Thanks for the Classique d’ Camembert! Didn’t know you had a solo LP– is any of it on your website?

I don’t have any of it on my website but I did find one of the songs on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygXhabAkNNQ . The LP was called Childstar and contained the first 10 songs I ever wrote. The album went nowhere but it definitely got me noticed by a bunch of singers who were pretty instrumental for me at the beginning of my career, notably Bonnie Raitt who was the first person ever to sing one of my songs, Bette Midler and Phoebe Snow. I’d give anything to be able to buy the masters back from Sony. I think a couple songs on there are still among the best I’ve ever written.

I really want to hear “Child Star”! I held the actual 8 track in my hot little hands and it appears in one of my “Willis Wonderland” posts.

Allee– Great to hear the Allee of yesteryear, and the vintage-y artwork on the album is pretty cool too. Which song of yours did Bonnie Raitt sing? And did Bette Midler and Phoebe Snow also sing/record your songs?

Bonnie sang ‚ÄúGot You on My Mind‚Äù on her Streetlights album. Bette rehearsed ‚ÄúChildstar” for her live show though it never went in. She was just of major support back in the day. She cut a couple of my songs but that was years later. Phoebe used to show up in the front row at a lot of Bonnie Raitt concerts and I was singing backup for Bonnie. She finally came up to me and introduced herself saying she was a major fan of my album. What was so bizarre was that about two hours before that I heard a song on the radio (blanking on the title now) and listened to find out who the artist was. It was Phoebe Snow who I had never heard of but was intending to stop by Tower Records the next day to track her down. This is when I knew I would be taken care of by synchronicity my whole life.
