This fat cat was made out of a gourd. El Gourdo stands about 10′ high and 7′ wide. He is a perfect addition to my collection since I don’t have any other cats made out of farm produce!

Exceptional use of a gourd! I have tons of gourds that are percussion instruments but that falls within normal use of them. This is much better.

Is a gourd a veggie of some sort? I’ve seen them used before in art but never knew the name of them. This is fabulous. Can it shake like a rattle?

Technically, I think it’s in the fruit family. This particular one is silent.

If it were around here at Willis Wonderland I’d drill a little hole in an appropriate place and slide some rice in there, patch it up with some hot melt glue and use it as a shaker.

I think the artist did just the opposite, and removed the seeds, then patched it up. I noticed that the description says 10×7 feet. It should be 10×7 inches!
I’ve had El Gourdo for about 3 years. When I first got him I was going to name him Gourdie Howe, after my favorite hockey player, but thought El Gourdo was more fitting.

I read it as inches as I know my gourds but 10 x 7 feet would be a magnificent gourd indeed.
