Whether it is Steve and Edy ” soft rocking” Sound Garden’s Black Hole Sun or this version of Baby Got Back, there is always something kitsch about things that just don’t go together being coupled. The idea of these straight white people singing the bootylicious lyrics about big rumps and Steve and Eydie who are the epitome of the unhip covering Soundgarden is too ironic not to be coupled here at the museum.

I’ve long said that incongruity makes for some of the best kitsch on the planet. Both of these are exemplary examples of utilizing a combo of nare-the-twain-shall-meet musical styles resulting in excellent redefinitions of the songs. I like Baby Got Back better but would definitely feature both as the evening’s entertainment over at my place.

I love anything Steve and Eydie. They have a great official website featuring some wonderful and campy album covers and photos.
