Just love the graphics of the Big Boy logo. I remember the onions ring for 35 cents the most. It was a place to hang out in Jr High. Then there was the Bar Mitvah parties in the lower level every Saturday night. Same DJ almost every week. Everyone loved that restaurant on West Market street. Today, it’s fine chinese dining.

I still go to Big Boys. There’s a great Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank where every Sunday everyone comes in their classic cars. The weather out here is of course fabulous so this happens every Sunday year round. That kind of ambiance makes the hamburgers taste better too.

I have always loved the Big Boy logo. There’s still a giant big boy statue in front of the one in Burbank as well as vintage booths, chairs, umbrellas, etc.

I also really love that a franchise allowed the owner to attach their name to it. Your ashtray is from Frishe’s and my Big Boys come from Bob’s.

Too cool. I liked the Big Boy hamburger and the fries. I had them at yet another Big Boy restaurant named Shoney’s.

Was Bob’s BB the original name? Year round great weather keeps those ol’ classic cars in great shape, making your Sunday’s at BB like it’s 40 and 50 years ago. Who says ya can’t go back.
Manner’s Big Boy was actually the name our local BB went by. This was a local yard sale find, so the past owner was in Frishe territory, wherever that may be.

I think Bob’s BB may have been the original name as that’s what the one I grew up with in Detroit was called as well as the Burbank one out here and that’s definitely a vintage one.

The history of the Bob’s Big Boy (and how it got it’s name) can be found on wikipedia….and it features a photo of the Burbank restaurant mentioned by Allee. Shoney’s restaurant is also mentioned.

I used to go here all the time. When I was a kid though, I was obsessed with the statue for some reason. A lot of memories attached to that statue. Great post!

Out here, we have Shoney’s instead of Big Boy, their mascot is a bear. I always thought Big Boy was much kitschier.
