My Mom has read romance novels for years, still does and still collects them but not as obsessive now. This book came out in 1984. My Mother used to write (very rarely) to an author. She wrote to Joan Hohl, the author here, and before my Mother knew it, the author was wanting to use my Mothers first name as the character in this book. My mother’s name is “Nacia”, it comes form an old Italian name. My Mother was so thrilled and when author and heroine (my mother) met for the first time, they talked for an hour! My Mothers name is Nacia McLain……here in the book, it is Nacia Barnes…..
Allee Willis
Fantastic story. I hope Nacia McLain is having a great Mother’s Day today!
Douglas Wood
LOVE the title! A kitsch version of the opening sentence of Dickens’ A TALE OF TWO CITIES.

Wow, what a fantastic story!!!!! I love that your mom follows her heart when it comes to collecting and amicably stalking people (elvis, Joan Hohl…come on, tell us who else!!) She is so creative and curious and i really admire that…..now, i have to find out who joan hohl is! i used to steal my mother’s romance novels on the sly when i was kid, and even then i appreciated the pseudonyms!!!!!
