This 1960 cookbook really captures the era with all sorts of recipes that you’d never find in a contemporary cookbook, such as Cheese Waffles, Ham Souffle, Eggnog Chiffon Pie, Molded Cottage Cheese and Olive Salad, Peanut Butter Soup (which includes bacon and bacon drippings!), and a drink called the Pick Me Up.
It’s filled with lots of great photos and illustrations too…

The photo of the pastries knocks me out. Not only do I want to eat all of them right now but the colors are making my eyeballs bleed I love them so much.
The mere mention of dishes like Eggnog Chiffon Pie, Molded Cottage Cheese and Olive Salad, Peanut Butter Soup (which includes bacon and bacon drippings!) is enough to know that this would be my most used cookbook should it be my kitchen instead of yours.
I’ve never seen a drink like the Pick Me Up in a cookbook like this before. I think anyone using this book would pass out from sugar shock before liquor though. I wouldn’t be surprised if the person making Peanut Butter Soup were drinking while cooking.

I am severely tempted by Eggnog Chiffon Pie and Cheese Waffles.
