I couldn’t decide if this painting was ugly or kitschy so I bought it and hung it in my bedroom. I got it at the Fairfax flea mkt.

I gotta agree with you on the ugly but guess i can see the charm as well.
I’ve never been crazy about an artist pounding on layers of paint to show the dimension of the flowers. But I have to cut this one some slack as it looks handpainted. The ones I really don’t like despite the fact that they’re Kitsch are the floral arrangement paintings you find at those $39.99 sales at places like the Sheraton and Hilton.

OMG! I lived at La Cienega and Melrose and I was at the Fairfax and Melrose Flea Market every sunday! Some of the art hanging on my living room wall is from there. I always found some really good items at that Flea. Good post here!

I too have strolled those Hollywood High flea stomping grounds.

It is a great flea mkt because you can get through it in like an hour in comparison to say the Rose Bowl or Long Beach which takes hours! Also, the same vendors are always there, so you can build up a nice relationship with them.
