The DANCIN’ CITY wooden children’s pull toy

Submitted by denny January 30th, 2010

I always loved this. It’s from the late 80’s. This belonged to a friend and I would constantly ride her about giving this to me. She caved in and gave it to me one year for my birthday back in the late 80’s I believe. It took everything for her to give this to me and she still asks me to this day if I have it! When you pull the toy, the buildings bobble up and down at different heights.

Is there any music that the buildings dance to? I always love when products use words like Dancin’ (especially minus the g) in their names when no music is actually provided to dance to. This toy probably more appropriately should have been named Movin’ Buildings but Dancin’ has more appeal. This is always a good sign of Kitsch.

If this is anything like the Busy Bee wooden toy I used to pull around with plastic propeller wings I know I’d love the sound this makes – the bees times 10!

I wish it played music! I actually think this was modeled after the NY skyline. What do you think?

It actually does have some bldgs that could be “NYC-esque”. Either that or it is an earthquake depiction of downtown LA.
