Some of the special things on my fireplace mantle

Here we have an old pushbutton AM radio (still works), flanked by carved pine bark birds from Divisidero in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico and a couple of frog candle holders from Tijuana.

Beautiful Deco radio. That Streamline ovalish form coupled with Bakolite gets me every time. I still love the sound of AM radios. You have a very happy mantle.

I love most old radios and I love vacuum tubes !!!!

    Psst…
I think that frog on the left has an attitude.

What are those 2 little brown figurines, they almost look like sea horses? Are they birds? Incredible radio, I love that! It just sings to me!

    Hi denny –

The figurines are carved wooden birds. They’re from Divisidero, which is on the route of the Copper Canyon Train in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico.

I purchased them from a street vendor as I observed the breathtaking views of Mexico’s grand canyon.
