The Hungering Shame – “Four Men, A lonely Road- and a Girl…”
The Wayward Ones- “Life in a Girls” Reformatory”
Tawny- ” She was a cheap tramp, but she was a luscious woman and he wanted her!”
A Dangerous Woman- “Life’s passion, pain and irony manificently exposed by the author of Studs Lonigan.”
Allee Willis
These are always fantastic. The artwork is always beautiful and the titles always slay me. I love “The Hungering Shame” especially. I used to browse through these titles when I was stuck for a song title. They were usually too cheesy to use but they’d trigger something else and end my writer’s block.
I always heard that lots of really famous writers used to write these under pen names to make extra money. It was also the way that the blacklisted writers could work in the 1950s and 60s.
