I suppose any product can get a boost from a celebrity endorsement, but I’m really not sure what the connection is between Jonathan Winters and Ruffies Sure Saks. Maybe I’m missing something, but when I think of Jonathan Winters, kitchen refuse is not the first thing that comes to mind. Maybe Redd Foxx was too expensive?

I seem to remember Winters doing a buttload of TV commercials for this. I love that the price tag is still on the outer bag and that you got them for a ‘reduced’ price.
Winters did have the kind of face that was perfect for a product that could potentially smell bad.

ah yes! i think i know the connection – although they probably didn’t use it in the marketing for this product! one of my favorite jonathan winters performances is in the brilliant “it’s a mad mad mad mad world” when he famously keeps referring to ethel merman as “the old bag”….

Winters on Scooby Doo was my favorite.
